Obituary

James Roberts was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana on January 2, 1928. He was the third child born to John Roberts and Anna LaBomme-Roberts, James' mother passed away when he was seven years old. His father later married Bessie LaCour who James fondly called "Nannie".
As a young man James moved to California where he met and married Gladys. together they raised 5 children. For many years James worked in a foundry where he poured hot melted iron. Although the job was dangerous he did it to support his family. In the late sixties James was afforded the opportunity to acquire his own business. He started in a small store front manufacturing custom screens and windows. He successfully developed his own business which enabled him to purchases his own building that would come to be known as "The Shop." For James "The Shop" was more than a business, it was a place where on any given Saturday morning, you'd surely find family and friends dropping by. James truly treasured those times. During his forty plus years of business he was well respected by the community he served.
In August 2004 James retired. He and Gladys relocated to Moreno Valley. On December 15, 2008 James was called home by the Lord, at the age of 80, where he has joined his parents John and Anna, his step mother Bessie and his two brothers Edward and George.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife Gladys, his children Michael, James, Lynne, Steven and Kenny, his daughter-in-laws Joyce, Armida and Martine, his son-in-law Charles B, his 13 grandchildren, Tina C, Martha S, Tracy M, Carrie RH, Neil B, Caritina H, Yusef B, Toni K, James R III, Andrea C, Tiffany R, Samantha D, Sebastien R, Kayla R and 32 great-grandchildren. He also leaves 6 brothers: John, Reginald, Harry, Raymond, Antoine and Kerry, six sisters: Mary Eunice, Rosalie, Lucille, Jill and Natalie along with a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
